E-learning in Room 1

Study ladder in Room 1

Dear Parent / Guardian,

This is a courtesy letter to inform you that your child's class is now using a free version of Studyladder, an online educational program which allows students to learn at their own pace.

About Studyladder
Studyladder is a K-6 web based educational program designed by teachers. The program is curriculum based and covers Mathematics, Literacy and 8 other subjects. Your child has been given a username and password which can be used to access Studyladder.

Using Studyladder
It is not compulsory for your child to use Studyladder at home, however regular access will help your child to reinforce what they have learnt in school. It will also help to build their confidence through practice.

Safe Internet usage
Studyladder is designed to prevent bullying and does not allow student access to social networking. Your child will NOT be able to chat with anyone via Studyladder. However, we encourage you to supervise your child at all times when using the Internet.

Recovering previous rewards and points
Students can recover their rewards and points from their previous accounts. To do this, students should log into their NEW school account, click on the HELP TAB and select RECOVER OLD POINTS. All of their past rewards will be recovered. This will also upgrade their new account if the previous account had premium access.

Accessing Studyladder from home
Go to www.studyladder.co.nz and login using your child's school username and password.
Parents have the option to sign up for a free home account which can be linked to their child's school account. Those who register will have access to their child's certificates and results. Studyladder does not charge for this service and it is optional to upgrade to premium access.
If you have any questions or require assistance, please email support@studyladder.co.nz
Kind Regards,

Whaea Kristina

Vodafone Warriors come to Rotorua Primary

Our tamariki were so impressed by the skills that the Warriors showed us on the big screen! They were even MORE excited to receive their pens, bracelets and tattoos :-) Thanks to the crew who made this fabulous experience possible for our tamariki!
GO THE WARRIORS

Maths in Action

We are off to a fabulous start in Room 1.

Students are learning to follow our new class routines and systems and are being afforded opportunities to practice new learning through our dynamic classroom programs.

In mathematics we rotate through a range of activities such as:

1. Working with the classroom teacher on specific learning goals
2. Using the computers and Ipads to reinforce our learning
3. Using concrete materials to explore maths concepts
4. Being responsible class members by working cooperatively together.

Term 1 will see our students focus on the development of their number knowledge, strategies they can use to make adding and subtracting numbers easier, recalling their basic facts, as well as strengthening their understanding of shape, size and time.

Here are two of our students Tahma and Koheriki independently using some of our classroom resources to create patterns and shapes.

GREAT INDEPENDENT LEARNING TEAM :-)
